Kemibrug og OzZone

Kemibrug database

The University of Copenhagen uses a chemical registration tool which is a searchable database of the department’s inventory of chemicals, providing access to updated, comprehensive directions for use of the registered substances.

The link to the chemical database is www.kemibrug.dk .

An English version of the website is available, but not all directions for use are available in English. Translating these is an ongoing process, and they can be ordered via the website. Ask your local editor about your registrations in the Kemibrug database. The chemical consultant can provide you with the name of the editor if your local occupational health and safety group or laboratory assistant cannot help.

Apcceptance has been obtained from the Danish Working Environment Authority for these chemical directions for use to replace the printed versions which previously had to be available in the laboratory. The background is that all users have easy access to a computer, and the Technical University of Denmark has printed versions which can be obtained in the event of power failure.

The comprehensive directions for use can be used as a basis for the chemical risk assessment of processes. Also, the following aspects have to be considered:

  • Substitution
  • Local conditions (waste, aids, spillages and handling)
  • Whether parts of the procedure involves an increased risk of exposure (possibly higher-level precautions and registration of user)
  • Pregnancy

See the menu item Chemical APV for a detailed description of the risk assessment and relevant tools.

Kemibrug supplies two tools for labelling your chemicals.

See the menu item Label design for information on the label and classification program OzZone and the label designer from Kemibrug.
