ATP
ATP (Arbejdsmarkedets Tillægs Pension) was established in 1964 by an Act of Parliament to ensure a financially secure life for Danes of pensionable age.
As a rule, you make contributions to ATP if you:
• Are a wage earner
• Are between 16 and 67 years of age
• Work at least 9 hours a week
If you receive ATP Livslang Pension, a lifelong supplementary pension, before you have reached the age of 67, you can no longer make contributions to ATP even though you are still a wage earner. If you were born on 1 July 1939 or later, you are entitled to ATP Livslang Pension once you reach 65 years of age.
As a public employee, you pay either rate A, B, C or D each month to ATP; the rate which applies to you is determined via your collective agreement. The amount also depends on the number of hours you work each month.
You can read more about ATP and the rates at www.atp.dk.
