Lunch
The time and place of your lunch must be agreed with your manager.
Both your work (time of lunch break) and the provisions of the Danish Working Environment Act (Arbejdsmiljøloven) (physical location) must be taken into consideration.
For most employees, the lunch break is paid by the faculty.
If you have paid lunch break, you must be available during your break.
The right to paid lunch break appears from your trade union agreement – an example of this is the trade union agreement of the Union of Commercial and Clerical Employees in Denmark (HK) where Clause 14 stipulates:
14. Breaks
Clerical employees are entitled to the following lunch breaks when working less than half-time: no lunch breaks, from half-time to two-thirds: 15 min.
two-thirds and above: up to 30 minutes’ lunch break
Some employee categories are not entitled to paid lunch break (certain skilled and unskilled workers).
