Traffic affected by the Road World Championships in Copenhagen and Rudersdal
The UCI Road World Championships will take place in Copenhagen and Rudersdal in September 2011. This will have great impact on traffic in central Copenhagen and Rudersdal. You should be aware of this if you live in or intend to visit Copenhagen or Rudersdal (north of Copenhagen) between September 15 and September 25, and it is recommended to go by bus, train, metro or bicycle and leave the car outside of Copenhagen.
UCI Road World Championship in time trial and road racing is coming to Denmark this year. It is one of the world's biggest sporting events and a large and colorful international folk festival, which only Tour de France passes in cycling. The politicians of Copenhagen have approved a route for the World Championship and want the city to be a good host for the organizers and the up to 200,000 spectators whom will fill the streets over four days.
From 19th to 25th September 2011 the event will take place in Copenhagen and its region where the time trial will start in Copenhagen City Center (September 19th to 21th) and the road race in Rudersdal municipality north of Copenhagen (September 23th to 25th).
The time trials will start and finish at the Copenhagen Town Hall Square (Rådhuspladsen) and runs past the City Center, Østerbro and a bit of Hellerup. The road race starts at Town Hall Square on Sunday 25 September but the race itself takes place in Rudersdal.
