Proposed budget shaves 175 million kroner from University budget

The government presented its 2012 budget proposal on Wednesday. In it, KU is allocated a total direct subsidy from the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation amounting to 4,842 million kroner, compared with 5,017 million kroner this year.

In the proposed budget, the University receives roughly the same amount for tuition as last year, although its intake has increased significantly. The base grants for research and other activities would be cut by 128 million kroner, and in addition the Ministry would require the University to save 41 million kroner on administration.
