Call for Researchers' Night 2012 - The EU's 7th Framework
The European Commission has just published a bulletin on the Researchers' Night in 2012 with a budget of 30 million dollars. Researchers' Night traditionally takes place across Europe on the fourth Friday in September each year. In 2012, the event takes place on 28 September.

The purpose of this Researchers’ Night is to demonstrate the relevance of the research community to the general public and to bring researchers and audiences closer together. Researchers must therefore be actively involved in and in direct contact with the audience

Application deadline is 10 January 2012, 17:00.

Lets get it started! EUopSTART funds from FI

The funds from FI have run out for 2011 but there will be a new call available from 1 January 2012. So, for you FP7 ITN and 2. round of FP7 HEALTH proposal writers, remember to apply as soon as possible since the funds are on a first come, first serve basis.

The maximum amount for application writing is 220.000 DKK incl OH and 65.000 DKK for contract negotiations and other EU calls.

It is a running deadline and they aim at replying within 25 days.

VTU International Network Programme 2011

With the aim of supporting collaboration on science, technology and education with China, India, Israel, Japan, USA, Brazil and The Republic of Korea, The Ministry of Science, Innovation and Higher Education the third call on The International Network Programme.

Applications for the following grant types are invited:

  • Exploratory scientific workshops and conferences with participation of researchers, scientists and Ph.D.-students from Denmark and from one or more of the countries in question.
  • Exploratory Visiting Scientist Grants aimed at researchers, scientists and Ph.D.-students from both Danish and foreign institutions or companies from one or more of the countries in question

Danida – Development Research – call for Phase 1 Applications 2012 (some may already have received this through UFAG)

 

Grants will be awarded to strategic research cooperation which generates new knowledge relevant to the needs and strategies of developing countries and to Denmark’s development cooperation, and contributes to strengthening research capacity in developing countries. Research projects should be carried out as collaborative research between Danish and South-based research institutions with a priority on institutions in Africa.
Research themes:

  • Health issues relevant to primary health care
  • Inclusive economic growth, employment, and youth
  • Good governance, human rights, conflict and fragility
  • Climate change, energy, sustainable management of natural resources and urban areas

Applications for strategic research cooperation projects (between 5 and 10 million DKK per project) should be submitted within the 4 themes.

Novo Nordisk - Chinese Academy of Sciences Research Foundation, call for project proposals

The aim of NN-CAS Research Foundation is to fund or co-fund activities within Biopharmaceuticals & Diabetes including related disciplines and technologies such as protein chemistry, immunology, inflammation, endocrinology, diabetes, pharmacology and drug delivery.

Is it dangerous to take my research to China?

A seminar on university-related IPR in China, 1 December 2011 at DTU.

Knowledge about IPR in China and how to deal with IPR-issues when establishing and conducting research cooperation with Chinese partners is needed.
This seminar will present the participants with state-of-art knowledge about the IPR-situation in China including case examples and proposals for best practice.

For each round of Grand Challenges Explorations, applicants are asked to focus their proposals on specific topics where creative, unorthodox thinking is most urgently needed. Topics for Grand Challenges Explorations Round 8 are:

  • Design New Approaches to Optimize Immunization Systems
  • Explore New Solutions for Global Health Priority Areas

GE’s healthymagination Challenge: Assembling Tools to Fight Cancer

The healthymagination Challenge is focused on finding new ideas that accelerate innovation in early diagnosis, patient stratification, and the personalized treatment of breast cancer. Pots of up to 100.000 USD are given to support original and feasible research ideas.

The European Foundation for the Study of Diabetes (EFSD)

EFSD funds European research covering all aspects of diabetes, e.g. epidemiology / genetics of pre-diabetes, diabetes and its micro- and macrovascular complications, pathophysiology and clinical aspects including vascular physiology and obesity.

The proposed investigation must be carried out in humans; although in vitro and ex vivo studies are acceptable, the in vivo component must clearly be the more relevant part of the project.

Research will be supported through the award of grants, each of up to Euro 400,000.
