IMI’s 4th Call for proposals has now officially been launched!!
The deadline for submitting Expressions of Interest (EoI) in the first stage of the Call is October the 18th 2011, with a submission start date of the 19th September 2011. The confirmed list of topics is as follows;
Note that the EMIF topic includes significant opportunities for experts in obesity (both in children and adults) and Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.
EU Medical Information System
- Building up a European Medical Information Framework (EMIF) of patient-level data to support a wide range of medical research.
This Call theme consists of three topics:
i. Information Framework / Knowledge Management Service Layer
ii. Metabolic complications of obesity
iii. Protective and precipitating markers for the development of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and other dementias

Are you a foreign researcher at LIFE? Would you like 50,000-100,000 euroes?
Marie Curie Career Integration Grants (CIG) can be applied for by a host organization and a researcher employed by the host organization. You must not have worked in Denmark for more than 12 months before the application deadline. The researcher may not be the recipient of a second type of Marie Curie Fellow. The money is given as a 'lump sum' and can therefore be used for any kind of research related expenses. Note that administrative demands for reporting are very light for this type of grant.

ERC information meeting 20 September 2011 at CBS
EuroCenter hosts in cooperation with Copenhagen Business School, an information meeting on options for EU grants from the ERC. The program supports researchers in all disciplines. The meeting focuses on both ERC Starting and Advanced Grants.

National Funding
Introducing 'VILLUM FOUNDATION Young Investigator Programme'.
The programme supports talented young Danish researchers in the natural sciences and engineering sciences with ambitions to create their own, independent research profiles.
Expected total budget for the programme per year is 50 million DKK.
The program is both aimed at young researchers ("senior" postdocs) without permanent employment, but with potential for permanent employment, and young, relatively newly tenured associate professors. For both groups, the relevant international experience will weigh heavily in the fund's rating.
Permanent lecturers can apply for up to 7 million DKK in a period of up to 5 years, non-tenured senior postdocs can apply for up to 4 million DKK in a period of up to 3 years.
Application deadline is 1 September 2011.

Industrial post doc from the Danish National Advanced Technology Foundation (HTF)
The idea of an industrial post is that a research-trained person uses part of their time in the company and the remainder of the research organization to address specific research and development tasks. Industrial post doc is aimed at talented researchers early in their careers. An industrial post-project can apply by 1 person for 1-3 years. Industrial post docs are aimed at all sizes of businesses, and all technology areas supported. Industrial post doc-projects are financed by all parties with a certain amount of co-financing.

Open funds for innovation
The “Open Funds” are designed to strengthen the interaction between knowledge institutions and enterprises on innovation and knowledge for the benefit of businesses. The initiative supports projects that do not fall within the already known forms of cooperation and existing tools that support interaction.
An application to the 'open funds' should not be able to fit under the Council's existing mechanisms for interaction between companies and knowledge institutions. This year there is also the opportunity to seek support for emerging clusters with high potential. Project applications must focus on the new and innovative.
The application deadline is 1 October 2011. The 16.6 million. million to projects within the Open funds in 2011. Contact Annette () for help with applications.

FIK attended the recent information meeting on the DFF post doc call
We picked up a few tips from the secretariat:
· Mobility or change in environment are essential criterias
· If you want to apply for the Sapere Aude post doc you make a mark in e-application section 15 and write "I would like to apply for DFF-Sapere Aude post doc"
· Remember to describe all budget headings - add a salary slip if your salary varies from the standard
· You have to prioritise the scientific codes
· Do NOT use a link to your publication list. It has to be uploaded as a document otherwise the application will be administratively rejected
· Follow the guide lines about size, font, length of chapter etc
They are changing the application dead lines from 2013. Therefore there will be three deadlines in 2012:

Interested in research Cooperation with Vietnam and Ghana?
Danida Fellowship Centre (DFC), which administers the Foreign aid to developing research and transmit this information that the Danish research institutions to submit expressions of interest to developing collaborative research with Vietnamese and Ghanaian research institutions.

OECD funding
The Co-operative Research Programme" 2012 call.
You can apply the programme for funding to:
1) Research Fellowships – research stays in other OECD countries (deadline d. 5. September 2011).
2) Expenses to "invited speakers" at international conferences, workshops, symposia etc (deadline d. 15. September 2011).
For the current call for applications for funding in 2012, the overarching issues of climate change in agriculture and food security continue to be important, but the Bureau of the Committee for Agriculture has also identified the following issues to be of interest:
- measures to increase efficiency of resource use in agriculture: water, energy and fertiliser in particular
- methods for/of measuring/estimating post-harvest losses, and technologies and management approaches to reduce such losses
In the 6-8 weeks that are left of the current call for applications, please do pass this information on to potential applicants, and encourage any enquirers who have already approached you with projects along these lines to pursue their applications.
