Today the Board of University of Copenhagen decided to merge four of the University’s eight faculties into two. The Board also adopted a follow-up plan with a number of action points that will now be discussed.

The Faculty management sent out the following mail to staff and students on 15 December:
"Dear colleagues and students
This morning the Board decided to implement the merger, which means that four faculties in the "wet" area become two new faculties; the Faculty of Science (in Danish: Det Natur- og Biovidenskabelige Fakultet) (SCIENCE) and the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences (in Danish: Det Sundhedsvidenskabelige Fakultet). You may like to read the University’s (Danish) press release here.
This decision involves many exciting perspectives and possibilities and, of course, also a number of challenges, not least in 2012 where we will roll up our sleeves and jointly organise and implement the merger in the best possible way.
As previously announced, open meetings will be held on Friday 16 December where focus will be on the new SCIENCE faculty:
At 9:00 – 10:00, LIFE, Auditorium A2-81.01 (3-01), Thorvaldsensvej 40, 1870 Frederiksberg C
At 10:30 – 11:30, SCIENCE, Department of Biology, Biocentret, Lundbeckfond Auditoriet, Ole Maaløesvej 5, 2200 København N
Please note that that in connection with the meetings, there will be light meals. At LIFE, coffee and croissants will be available at Marmorhallen from 8:30, and at SCIENCE, there will be a light meal immediately after the open meeting.
ONLY AT LIFE: At LIFE, we would like to mark the beginning of a new era for the faculty. We will do this by serving a glass of beer – some Danes might call it ‘gravøl’ - on Friday 16 December at 15:00- 16:00 at A-vej. For the members of staff who are unable to attend due to Christmas lunches, other arrangements will be made.
We hope that you will be able to take part in the open meeting as well as in the event at A-vej tomorrow, Friday 16 December. The open meetings will be videotaped and can then be seen at KUnet.
We hope to see you there!
Nils O. Andersen Niels Elers Koch
Dean, SCIENCE Temporary Dean (from 1 January), LIFE"
