Successful international dinner with dishes from all over the world

Again this year, 200 international students together with representatives from Student Unions, First Contact volunteers and other Danish students met for the annual International Dinner and Dance.

To take part in the International Dinner, participants had to bring a dish from their own country, and shortly after 18:00 the long table was so full of delicious food that it had to be extended. The International Dinner took place on 25 November, which is International Week in Denmark, but because of the approaching festive season, some of the dishes were traditional Christmas dishes.

There was chili pork from China, Quiche Lorraine from France, bulgur from Turkey, stir-fried chicken from Thailand, potato salad from Germany, a traditional Christmas cake from Italy, Indian dahi vada with yogurt, Danish sausages, Bachalau from Portugal and English shephard’s pie and many, many other wonderful dishes from the 60 countries that are represented at LIFE.

After the dinner, the bar was open and there was music and dance. Danish folk dancers offered instruction in Danish culture and traditional Danish folk dance. Again this year, it was an evening enjoyed by all - and something to remember in the long dark evenings that also characterise Danish winter.
