Memorial ceremony to honour one the greatest environmental campaigners of our time
On Friday 14 October University of Copenhagen will commemorate one of the greatest environmental campaigners of our time, the Kenyan professor and Nobel Peace Prizewinner who died on 25 September, aged 71.

In addition to the title of honorary doctor at University of Copenhagen, she received many distinctions and awards for her contribution to sustainable development, democracy and peace in Kenya, including the Nobel Prize in 2004.
At the commemoration ceremony, Centre Director of Forest and Landscape at LIFE- Faculty of Life Sciences at University of Copenhagen, Niels Elers Koch, will plant a tree in memory of professor Wangari Maathai and her untiring work for a greener planet.
