The title of the lecture is
Forests between the poverty alleviation and environmental service paradigms
Sven Wunder has been appointed Adjunct Professor at University of Copenhagen in ‘Natural Resource Economics in Developing Countries’. He holds an MA in Economics and a PhD (1992) from the University of Copenhagen and obtained his Doctor of Science degree from the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University in 2001. He has a distinguished career in international research institutions and organizations. He is the Principal Economist at the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR), based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Sven Wunder has made significant international contributions to research in the relationship between poverty, livelihoods and access to natural resources, and in recent years also on the concept of Payment for Environmental Services (PES) and potentials of this in biodiversity protection, water protection and reduced deforestation. He has published 10 books and has advised both small-scale and government conservation programmes. Sven Wunder has a longstanding relationship with the University of Copenhagen in research and research training.
