Generic courses 2012
PhD students at LIFE can participate in general or so-called generic PhD courses, i.e. courses that can support their PhD studies but that are not specified to the topic of their projects. Students will obtain ECTS credits for most of the courses.
Generic PhD courses offered by the Graduate School of Life Sciences
PhD students from the former Faculty of Life Sciences can participate for free in all courses. PhD students from the other faculties at University of Copenhagen can participate according to the agreement on internal market for generic courses at University of Copenhagen (i.e. for free or reduced price, contact your PhD School for further information). Participants may have to pay for room and board.
The following main types of generic courses are offered by the Graduate School of Life Sciences
- Personal development and career planning.
- Research ethics.
- Project leadership, quality assurance and entrepreneurship.
- Dissemination courses (scientific writing and presentation techniques).
- Didactic course for PhD students.
- Basic statistical methods.

Generic PhD seminars
The Graduate School is also involved in setting-up seminars and workshops for PhD students, supervisors and other interested in PhD educational issues.
