What is an ordinary PhD scholarship?
BASICS
Scholarship offered by LIFE – project subject defined by student and supervisor
Ordinary PhD scholarships are PhD scholarships offered and financed by the Faculty of Life Sciences (LIFE) with the special characteristic that the academic content is defined in a collaboration between the applicant and the principal supervisor.
Applications relating to LIFE’s core competences
The scholarships are available to applicants with projects which relate to the core research competence at one of LIFE’s departments and are therefore not limited by strategic or politically prioritised subject areas.
Objective awarding criteria
Applications for ordinary scholarships can be submitted in response to a scholarship advertisement/job advertisement, and the scholarships are awarded to the applicants with the best qualifications measured on objective criteria, i.e. weighted grade point average plus additional relevant qualifications (passed PhD courses, credit-earning research, published articles, work experience after graduating from the Master’s degree programme) – the regulated average.
Here, you can read more about the regulated average.
