"The World's Best News" launched at LIFE - 18.08.2010
On 17 August 2010, the information campaign "The World's Best News" was launched by Danish Minister for Development Mr. Søren Pind at a large launching event at the Main Lecture Hall at LIFE - Faculty of Life Sciences at University of Copenhagen.

“The World’s Best News" is the largest joint Danish information campaign on development issues ever. The campaign is a joint initiative involving the UN, Danida and more than 60 Danish development NGOs that want to make people aware that the efforts to help the world’s poor and needy serve a good purpose and already have created great and lasting results.
Present at the launch were Minister for Development Mr Søren Pind and Stine Bosse who presented a video feature on the 2015 Millennium Goals. Director of the UNDP Nordic Office Jakob Simonsen and vice chairman of the board of UN Global Compact Mads Øvlisen spoke about partnerships and strategic CSR.
Great progress in developing countries
The good news that the campaign aims to make people aware of include:
● 90% of all children in developing countries now go to school.
● 400 million more people now have been lifted out of extreme poverty
● 1.6 billion more people now have access to clean drinking water.
● 90% less children in Africa die from measles.

Development issues have a high priority at LIFE
LIFE is deeply committed to development research. Around 15 percent of the Faculty’s staff are involved in research projects linked to development issues. Many of the development-related research projects at LIFE directly or indirectly contribute to meeting UN’s Millenium Development Goals, and therefore LIFE is pleased to help spread the good news.
