Danish-Chinese university collaboration will be strengthened by new business ambassador - 03.03.2010
Former CEO of Danisco A/S, Mogens Granborg, has been attached to LIFE – Faculty of Life Sciences, University of Copenhagen as a special adviser in relation to the Faculty's future research and education collaboration activities in China. With this initiative, it is hoped to strengthen strategically important knowledge sharing and help increase the exchange of students and research competences between Denmark and China.
In the coming months and years, it will be an important strategic objective for LIFE- Faculty of Life Sciences to develop fruitful relations with Chinese universities and businesses by contributing knowledge and competences in the areas in which LIFE is among the leading educational institutions, for instance in the areas of food quality and safety. In this connection, LIFE wants to be a part of the coming Danish university centre in Beijing that is being set up on the initiative of the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, and where research competences and leading-edge knowledge within e.g. food research will be required.
As new business ambassador for LIFE, Mogens Granborg will work on establishing such partnerships. During his time as CEO of Danisco, Mogens Granborg has built up close relations with Chinese businesses and research institutions, and therefore can help promote LIFE as a relevant sparring and collaboration partner for Chinese universities and businesses:
- I am very much looking forward to helping strengthen collaboration between LIFE and a number of Chinese universities and companies. There is a great potential for creating valuable research and providing opportunities for talented students and researchers from both China and Denmark to enhance their education through attractive exchange agreements for both parties, says Mogens Granborg.
Dean at LIFE, Per Holten-Andersen sees great perspectives in the coming Danish-Chinese collaboration:
- I think that it is important for us to be able to draw on an experienced person from outside our Faculty to help us prioritize our activities on the Chinese market, not least in relation to the plans of the Danish Ministry of Science for a Danish university centre in Beijing. At LIFE, we already benefit from many talented students from China, and I am sure that the coming years will see an even greater exchange of students, researchers and new knowledge, says Dean at LIFE, Per Holten-Andersen.
