Prices and Payments

This section will provide you with important information about prices and payment procedures for your accommodation.

You will also find general information about arrival dates, payment dates and procedures for students living in Student Residences and in Private Housing.

Arrival Dates

Your contract will start and you will have access to your room from the following dates:

Spring Semester 2012:

February 1st, at 12 noon

Fall Semester 2012:

August 1st and 15th*, both days at 12 noon

*If you arrive between the 1st - 14th of August, your contract will start on the 1st of August and you will have access to your room from this day also. If you arrive between the 15th of August and 3rd of September, your contract will start on the 15th of August and you will have access to your room from this day also.

Student Residences

If you are placed in either a shared flat or a hall of residece, you pay two instalments per semester directly to LIFE. Bank information will be available on your rental agreement, which you will receive via email approximately one month before your scheduled date of arrival.

International money transfer and confirmation

The first instalment of your rent is due prior to your arrival. This means that you will have to make an international money transfer. All banks involved in the transfer charge a fee, payable by you, for this service.

If it is at all possible, it is a good idea to transfer the rent for the whole semester at one time. Doing this will save you time and transfer fees.

Rent (student residences)

Price range for a room in a shared flat: DKK 3000-5350 per month (the majority of the lower end rents are for shared rooms). Utilities are included (in some cases except laundry).

Price range for a room in a hall of residence: DKK 2800-7400 per month (the majority of the lower end rents are for shared rooms). Utilities are included (in some cases except laundry).

Rent is due on the 1st day of the month in which your contract starts and second rates, generally, are due two months after that:

Spring Semester:

February 1st and May 1st

Fall Semester:

August 1st and November 1st

Deposit (student residences)

Prior to your arrival, you pay a security deposit of DKK 2000 (DKK 4000 for two-room flats). This deposit will be refunded after your departure, if your room is left in satisfactory condition and no damage has been done to the furniture and equipment.

For the return of your deposit, please remember to fill in the Bank Information Form.

Private Housing

If you are placed in private housing, the tenancy agreement is drawn up between you and your landlord. LIFE plays no formal role in this agreement. When living in private housing, you will pay the first month's rent and your deposit upon arrival.

Please note that the tenancy agreement can be terminated by either party. The term of notice must be end of month plus 30 days, and the tenancy should always be vacated on the last day of the month!

Rent (private housing)

Price range for a room in private housing: DKK 2500-3500 per month. Utilities are included.

Your rent is paid directly to your landlord and the rent is due on the 1st of every month. It is your responsibility to have the correct amount ready for your landlord on this date. Make sure you get a receipt for your payment.

Deposit (private housing)

Upon arrival you pay a deposit equivalent to one month's rent. The deposit will be refunded prior to your departure, if your room is left in satisfactory condition and no damage has been done to the furniture and equipment.
