Getting started

First day of instruction is 6 Febuary 2012

Your student information systems: KUnet, Absalon, STADS, Netforum

In order to be ready for study start, it is important that you have access to KU's study information and communications systems.

Academic Calendar

  • When is the exam?
  • When is my vacation?

Teaching at LIFE is controlled by a yearly structure that contains 4 blocks and a week structure divided in A, B, and C modules. Each block contains a period of teaching, an exam week and sometimes a vacation period. This means that you always know in good time when you have classes, exams and vacation. Go to the Academic Calendar.

Your Schedule

Your classes are divided into A, B, and C modules. You can find your individual course schedule on Absalon.

On the webpages: What you need to know about course activities and What you need to know about exams you will find the answers to a number of frequently asked questions about classes and exams. Such as what to do if you have not received your student ID card before the first exam.

Registration is your responsibility...

The registration for courses and exams does not happen automatically. Therefore, it is of the utmost importance that you keep yourself updated on registration and deadlines for exams, courses, reexam...etc. Registration takes place at KUnet > Self Service > Enrolment, Courses and Exam.

Course contents

On the webpage: Course Descriptions you can learn more about the course contents, methods of teaching and the learning outcome of each course. You can also find the description of your courses at the website of your curriculum.

Get to know your curriculum by heart!

  • Do you know which courses are mandatory for you?
  • Do you know how many pages your thesis must be?
  • Or that you can have the examination period prolonged if you are dyslectic?

Your curriculum includes all rules and the framework for your programme and therefore it is of the utmost importance that you spend time getting to know it. In the curriculum you will also be able to see what knowledge, competences and skills you will acquire through your programme.

Please note that there is a separate curriculum for each programme as well as a common component that applies to all programmes. It is of great relevance that you know both. du kender begge.
