LFKM10367 Companion Animal Internal Medicine - Diagnosis and Treatment of Patients with Gastrointestinal and Respiratory Diseases. Spring 2013

To provide the student with theoretical and practical skills to perform diagnostic work up, establish prognosis and elaborate therapeutic strategies for the management of :

1) dogs and cats with gastrointestinal disease, including pancreatic and hepatic disease (1,5 days)

2) dogs and cats with upper and lower airway diseases (1,5 days)

And to provide the student with hands on knowledge in the field of minimal invasive endoscopic procedures through an endoscopy workshop (broncho-scopy, gastroduodeno-scopy, colono-scopy and cysto-scopy) 1 days.

LFKM10368 Companion Animal Internal Medicine - Diagnosis and Treatment of Patients with Endocrine and Urological Diseases. Autumn 2013.

To provide the student with theoretical and practical skills to perform diagnostic work up, establish prognosis and elaborate therapeutic strategies for the management of :

1) dogs and cats with endocrine diseases (1,5 days)

2) dogs and cats with upper and lower urinary tract diseases (1,5 days)

And to provide the student with hands on knowledge in the field of advanced diagnostic imaging including abdominal ultrasonography (1 day). The use of advanced CT and MRI in internal medicine will also be included in the course

To provide the student with theoretical and practical skills to perform diagnostic work up, establish prognosis and elaborate therapeutic strategies for the management of:

1) dogs and cats with haematological disorders including haemostatic disorders (1 days)

2) dogs and cats with critical medical conditions including vascular emergencies and emergency acid-base disorders (1 days)

3) dogs and cats with infectious diseases (1 days)

And to provide the student with hands on knowledge in the field of cytology including accurate sampling and advanced interpretation (1 days)
