Honorary awards at SCIENCE

At SCIENCE, we have seven honorary awards that celebrate and pay tribute to the research and work that is done every day at the faculty. The seven awards are presented to researchers, lecturers and staff at SCIENCE who have excelled in various ways. The awards are presented once a year.­­­­­­­­

 

Every year, students can nominate their favourite lecturer for the Teacher of the Year at SCIENCE award. The award is given to a lecturer who has performed particularly well in relation to delivering engaging teaching, continuously developing his/her teaching, knowledge sharing with colleagues and supporting student learning.

The award consists of DKK 75,000. Which must be shared between the recipient and his or her teaching team.

Individual students or groups of students on Bachelor's, Master's, PhD and Master's degree programmes can nominate a lecturer for the award.

Every year, the Faculty of Science presents the annual SCIENCE Dissemination Award to a member of staff who has made an extraordinary effort in the area of dissemination and communication. The jury consists of the Dean, the Associate Dean for Education and the Head of Communication. ​

The award, complemented by a 25,000 kr. prize, will be presented to the winner in the beginning of the year.

The PhD Award at SCIENCE is awarded each year in September to three outstanding PhD projects that have been submitted and defended at the faculty within the previous year. The only assessment criterion is the excellence of the project and the graduate. The award is presented by the Dean on the basis of recommendations from the faculty's departments.

Together with the award, the three winners will receive DKK 25,000 each.

The SCIENCE Business Prize is awarded in uneven years to researchers​ who have distinguished themselves through corporate partnerships and innovation, in either educational or research related contexts, in relation to: mutually beneficial results, discoveries, academic programme partnerships, knowledge networks, research collaboration, etc. The prize is awarded for public or private sector collaboration.

The nominations are assessed by a judging panel consisting of representatives from the Danish business community.

The winner receives 75,000 DKK for professional purposes.

The SCIENCE I&E Award for Students is awarded to students who excel in having an idea that is based on educational or research knowledge and is expected to generate impact in the form of a new service, technology or product.

The award winner receives a diploma and 10,000 DKK. In the case that the award winner is a team, the prize would be a total of 15,000 DKK, to be distributed equally among the winners.

Who is eligible?

All students at SCIENCE who are working on a business idea can be considered for the award. This may be curricular such as Project-in-Practice or the extra-curricular, e.g. students who work with their idea in SCIENCE Innovation Hub or in Venture Cup. In order to be able to register for the award, the idea must be well-described, but it does not have to be finalized as a start-up. Both Project-in-Practice and ideas at an early stage are welcome.

The SCIENCE Occupational Health and Safety Award is awarded each year in June to individuals or groups who have made a special difference to the physical or psychological working environments at SCIENCE. The assessment committee consists of the faculty director, the head of the occupational health and safety, as well as two work environment coordinators.

The price is DKK 25,000.
